Lonely Planet review for Trattoria del Rosso

This perennially popular trattoria is said to be the oldest in Bologna. The daily fixed-price lunch and dinner menus (€10) are exceptional value and the vegetarian options are a welcome sight in such a meat-obsessed city.

Forget the other review here... he must be a competitor

    afoodcritic recommends this,

This is a fantastic restaurant...or should i say trattoria! This is the "REAL DEAL"
Authentic down home cooking... We stayed in Bologna for two weeks and we returned here 3 times! The 10 Euro meal is outstanding.... people wait on line to taste the great local Emilia Romagna dishes.. The owner is a trained chef and a great guy.. Speaks English perfect....and he told us he owned a restaurant in Miami awhile ago..his name is Stefano Corvucci and he even took us into the kitchen to show us how the pasta was made fresh everyday. So. i don't know where the other guy who wrote the bad review ate? Get there early because there is always a long line!

worst meal ever. and heavily overpriced too!

    rashaghazela does not recommend this,

so we were really excited, having read good reviews about Trattoria del Rosso. "Good food for little money" was what we read and heard most. So we went. And it basically was a disappointment all around: the service was abrupt and rude (the waitress did speak english though, but she didn't know what side dished came with the courses), the bread in the bread basket was at least 2 days old, the house wine was undrinkable, and our food was rubbish; I ordered "fresh lamb from the grill with vegetables", my boyfriend "pork with potatoes" - the pork was greasy, dry and warmed up, but the most scandalous thing was my "food" - chopped up (and probably left over) chunks of lamb, breaded and deep-fried (!!! I mean COME ON! who would ever deep-fry lamb???) and the vegetables were battered and fried as well, which is perfectly fine when you
order Pakoras at an indian place, but nowhere else!
we took two bites and then just went inside, paid 30 euros (Hello?? Good food for little money???) and just left without so much as a "ciao"
McDonald's would have been a 5-star restaurant compared to Trattoria Del Rosso.
My advice: DO NOT GO THERE!

    Good for: absolutely nothing
