Lonely Planet review
A splendid choice – but not for minimalists – La Tonnarella is a dazzling canvas of blue-and-yellow majolica tiles, antiques, chandeliers and statues. Rooms, most of which have their own balcony or small terrace, continue the sumptuous classical theme with traditional furniture and discreet mod cons. The hotel also has its own private beach, accessible by lift, and a highly regarded terrace restaurant.
Our independent authors have visited Hotel La Tonnarella and selected this as one of our recommended hotels in Sorrento.
Description provided by property
Hotel La Tonnarella is an oasis of peace situated on a cliff, in one of the most panoramic settings of Sorrento. Enjoy beautiful sea views and a private beach.
La Tonnarella used to be the local Gargiulo family's summer residence. Today it is a delightful hotel with beautiful backdrop, preserving its fascinating period atmosphere, with antique furnishing and ceramic tiles.
Hotel La Tonnarella's small private beach, equipped with parasols and deck chairs, is also the setting of exclusive lunches. You can dine on a terrace surrounded by nature and only a few steps from the sea.
Guests can sample cheese and wine from Campania and other Italian regions in the wine bar. Local meat and fish dishes can also be tasted here, and you can also dine on the sea-view terrace in summer.
