Pizzeria Da Franco
More deli than pizzeria, with hams hanging from the ceiling and bottles of olive oil squeezed onto the shelves, this hugely popular place does the best pizza in town. Served on a metal tray with plastic cutlery, the house speciality comes with tomato, mozzarella, rocket and Parmesan. Expect queues most summer nights.

Pizzeria Starita
The giant fork and ladle hanging on the wall at this cultish pizzeria were used by Sophia Loren in L'Oro di Napoli, and the kitchen made the pizze fritte sold by the actress in the film. While the 60-plus pizza varieties include a tasty fiorilli e zucchini (zucchini, zucchini flowers and provola), our allegiance remains to its classic marinara.

Pizzeria Gino Sorbillo
Debate may rage about whether Gino Sorbillo's pizzas are the best in town, but that doesn't stop the clamouring crowds. We specify Gino because there are two other Sorbillo pizzerias on the same block, all from one family of 21 pizza-making siblings. Gino's pizzas are gigantic, tasty and best followed by a velvety semifreddo, made fresh by renowned pasticceria Scaturchio. We're addicted to the chocolate and torroncino (almond nougat) combo.
Done, check out the converted condom vending machine in the basement, now dispensing Neapolitan lucky charms. It's one of several in-house works by artistic duo Ulderico & Ognissanti.

Ristorante Pizzeria Vittoria
Come here for exceptional pizza with some 16 choices on the menu, including the Ravellese, with cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, basil and courgettes. Other dishes include lasagne with red pumpkin, smoked mozzarella and porcini mushrooms, and an innovative chickpea and cod antipasto. The atmosphere is one of subdued elegance, with a small outside terrace and grainy historical pics of Ravello on the walls.

E
Pizzeria Vesi
If Gino Sorbillo is closed, this popular pizzeria makes for a handy back-up plan. The pizzas are more than decent and there's warm-weather alfresco seating for voyeuristic noshing.
