Naples Photography
Blog: Ottsworld - 20 April 2012
I never spent longer than 30 minutes in Naples prior to this trip; however that 30 minutes did yield one of he scariest cab rides I’ve ever taken! Since Bethany and I were on a quest to have the best pizza in Naples, we got to spend more then 30 minutes in Naples this time. [...]

How to Eat Pizza Like an Italian
Blog: Ottsworld - 17 April 2012
The waitress brings out my pizza straight from the wood oven. The smell of the bread and the wood from the oven makes me salivate. It’s thin, crispy and on an individual little plate just waiting for me to dig in. The waitress sets down a knife and a fork and says “Buon appetite!” I [...]

There’s more to Italy than Rome and Tuscany. Have you seen the Amalfi Coast? It will leave you breathless! This collection of photos is from my recent trip back to the Amalfi coast after 4 years of being away. I’ve also included some of my older original photos too in order to get an idea [...]

Taking the Path Previously Traveled
Blog: Ottsworld - 12 April 2012
“I know you, you’ve been here before?” I was stunned that they would remember me after 4 years and countless travelers coming through their doors. I don’t really think that I stand out at all, I have no real defining features, no distinct accents, and with each year the landscape of my face changes with [...]

Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli
Blog: nateniale { reflections on my travels and everything else I love } - 29 November 2011
{ Naples, Italy - May 2011 } I love how the Italian words sound, and being able to understand them is even better! During the trip in Italy, I kept trying to eavesdrop in conversations, especially when those older Italian men were talking loudly with such passion and many hand movements. But I digress. My point is, I can read and understand the title of this post - Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli is the Naples National Archeological Museum.

Deep in the heart of historic Naples
Blog: nateniale { reflections on my travels and everything else I love } - 24 November 2011
{ Naples, Italy - May 2011 } Walking down the chaotic historic centre of Naples, you would never guess that there is a whole world deep underground. There are various sites and tours that bring visitors under the city, but on our visit we decided to explore the Naples' underground with Napoli Sotterranea, which literally means Naples Underground.

People of Napoli
Blog: nateniale { reflections on my travels and everything else I love } - 22 November 2011
{ Naples, Italy - May 2011 } In my previous two posts on "People of Venice" and "People of Vatican City", you can see how touristy the places are. Venice was full of day-trippers and we could only escape them early in the morning, or when we started wondering the tiny alleys. In Vatican City, with only 800 residents, there are literally only tourists that you see!

L’Antica Pizzeria Da Michele
Blog: nateniale { reflections on my travels and everything else I love } - 18 November 2011
{ Naples, Italy - May 2011 } Growing up in Malaysia, and then studying in Singapore and Australia, the pizza that I knew and grew up with were those American pizza with thick crust and lots of toppings. I was never really a fan. Soon, I discovered thin crust Italian pizza that I came to love. So, when in Naples, the birth place of pizza, what do you think is the must eat dish?

Pizza Pilgrimage to Naples, Italy
Blog: London Cosmopolitan - 15 November 2011
Most people bypass Naples in favor for the dramatic views and chic seaside resorts on the Amalfi Coast, and for good reasons: the Amalfi Coast is simply jaw-dropping gorgeous.

Pulcinella in Naples
Blog: nateniale { reflections on my travels and everything else I love } - 15 November 2011
{ Naples, Italy - May 2011 } Walking down the streets in the historic centre of Naples, we soon saw a recurring figure that seemed to the unofficial mascot of the city. A character dressed in white with a black mask, there were many figurines of him playing various musical instruments and even with pizza and spaghetti in hand. We later found out that the character is Pulcinella, which means "chick" in Italian, and it originated from 17th century theatre.

All the Italian cities are unique
Blog: nateniale { reflections on my travels and everything else I love } - 22 May 2011
Managed to go to quite a number of cities around Italy, and like one of the owner of the Bed and Breakfast we stayed in said "There are three Italy - the Northern Italy, the Southern Italy and the middle one". I fully agreed! All the cities that we went to were very different - it felt like we were in different countries! And most of the time, the traffic best described the mood of the city. Venice

Take My Luggage; Please!
Blog: Ron in Rome - 5 December 2010
For many travelers, storing your luggage on a brief stay in a city – traveling by train or plane – can be a problem. Most of the larger cities and airports do have a “LEFT LUGGAGE” service (deposito bagagli). The fees are very reasonable and I’ve used this service at multiple train stations. With the [...]

1st Class versus 2nd Class
Blog: Ron in Rome - 29 November 2010
One of the biggest debates on an Italian travel board is often, “Should I ride in 1st or 2nd class on a train?” Followed closely by, “What’s the difference between 1st and 2nd class?” And also course, “Is is worth the cost to purchase a 1st class ticket?” For most folks, it’s a matter of personal [...]

Tribute to Pompeii
Blog: Landlopers - 10 November 2010
Over the weekend I became aware of a very discouraging piece of travel news: the 2,000 year old “Gladiator’s House” at Pompeii collapsed. Yes, that right, part of one of the most important archeological sites in the world has been allowed to crumble. I won’t...

See Naples, And Then…
Blog: Lonely Girl Travels - 23 September 2010
Die, the saying goes. They’re not fucking around. I’d really wanted to go to Naples when I was last in Italy. But my then-boyfriend read the LP description—chaotic, dirty, somewhat dangerous—and nixed the idea. He liked Copenhagen, Scandindavia—clean, calm, safe cities filled with bicycles and crisp air, low unemployment and Nordic blondes with pale beautiful skin. [...]

For The Love Of Pizza
Blog: Around The World On The Toilet - 20 September 2010
When we decided to take a trip to Italy it wasn’t images of Tuscan Vineyards, walks through ancient Rome, or an interest in the romantic language that brought me here. While all those things sounds great, it was a life long love of a flat piece of dough covered in gooey mozzarella and fresh tomato [...]

Lady in Sorrento
Blog: A Lady in London - 10 May 2010
The Amalfi Coast has been on my list of places to visit for a long time. With its beautiful peninsula, enchanted islands, and picture pretty cliff-top towns, it is one of Italy’s coastal gems. Following three wonderful days in Rome, my boyfriend and I took a train to Naples, then a ferry to Sorrento. [...]
