  5. Back breaking fun, off to Italy!

Blog: Around The World On The Toilet - 18 September 2010

The day before we were departing for Italy, I woke up with a stiff back, barely able to move.  We decided that we would simply go to the walk in clinic and get some muscle relaxers, which would surely be the answer to my pain.  As I waited for Nick to get ready, I suddenly [...]

  6. Pottery Shards On The Amalfi Coast

    Blog: AlpacaSuitcase - 11 June 2010

It’s hard to imagine the small, picturesque town of Amalfi having a population of 70,000 people. Today there are less than six thousand full-time residents and it seems like there isn’t room for more. Amalfi rivaled Pisa and Genoa as a maritime superpower between the 9th and 12th centuries until a 1343 earthquake and storm caused the entire town to slide down the precipitous cliffs and into the sea.

  7. Lady in Amalfi

    Blog: A Lady in London - 17 May 2010

After visiting the lovely town of Positano, my boyfriend and I continued our Amalfi Coast tour by taking a ferry from Positano to the town of Amalfi.  We had read that Amalfi was bigger and a bit gritter that Positano, but our first impression was a good one. Our ferry pulled into the port in Amalfi [...]

  8. Lady in Positano

    Blog: A Lady in London - 14 May 2010

Everything I read about the Amalfi Coast suggested that the most beautiful coastal town in the area was Positano.  Tall houses climbing the hillside, beautiful beaches on the waterfront, and small winding streets full of shops all beckoned me to visit. On our second day in Sorrento my boyfriend and I woke up early to take [...]

  9. Naples & About – Amalfi Coast

    Blog: lechua photography - 22 November 2009

The Amalfi Coast, famed for its beautiful coastline with towns and villages perched on jagged cliffs, attracts tourists from all over. Stretching 50km south of the Sorrentine Peninsula, the towns along the coast are linked by a narrow road with sharp twists and turns. With limited options to travel by bus or boat during the off [...]

  10. Getaway to Sorrento!

Blog: Ron in Rome - 1 June 2009

This weekend was my wife’s birthday… so we escaped to Sorrento. Some friends loaned us their car and off we went on our weekend adventure. We stayed in a wonderful hotel just outside of town… so call this a trip report! Leaving Rome early Saturday AM we battled the “holiday” traffic heading out of town. [...]

  11. The “IDP” Question

Blog: Ron in Rome - 8 April 2009

Driving in Italy…If the thought of THAT is not stressful enough, there seems to be a lot of confusion about what is an International Driver Permit – also known as an IDP. Do I need this IDP-thing? DO rental vendors ask for it? Is an IDP required by law in Italy? What about all those [...]
