Easter weekend

Hello! First timer here. Traveling to Palermo with my girlfriend and arriving Easter weekend. Will public transport be available from the airport on Easter Sunday? Also was wondering if restaurants/cafes would be open on Sunday and Monday. Many thanks for the info.

9 Days Itinerary- second time in Italy

Hi,
I am planning a visit to Italy in the beginning of November. It will be my second time in Italy (the first was about 10 years ago, and included Rome, Florence, Venice and Milan, for about 2 weeks. Therefore, I don`t want to visit all the "must sees" that I have seen in the first visit).
I will happy to hear your opinion about this itinerary:
Day 1- arriving to Rome early morning
Day 2- (From Rome) Naples
Day 3- Pompei
Day 4- Viterbo (arriving from Naples, must be there on Day 5, not…

Rome/Florence 10 day itinerary with toddler - help wanted

Hello All!

My wife and I are thinking of travelling with our then 2 year toddler in May 2015 to Italy and France from the US. The goal of the trip is to see some (not too much) classic sights in Rome/Florence and otherwise be relaxed and have some good food. We have been to France before but not Italy. We want to avoid renting a car if possible. We will have a stroller - CITI MINI GT. Apologies for not having much filled in, I just snagged seats in a fare war and am at the moment not sure of…

Bad Weather Situation in Italy

The bad weather in Liguria over the past few days has now moved south into Tuscany. Some roads and bridges are out in the area of Orbetello. Two people lost their lives last night when a river overflowed near Albinia.
Avoid the area for the time being.

Advice for Trip of Italy

Hello everyone here,

I've been planning a trip to Italy next year, for a while. Since to date, I've never been in Italy.

I glanced over where I can go and made a draft. As aspect of cities, my recent draft is to include Naples, Rome, Firenze (Florence), Sienna, Cinque Terre, Portofino and finally Milano. In depth looking to my draft:

1) Land on Naples; Spend 2 day (1 night) in Naples
2) Go to Rome; Spend 4 day (3 nights)
3) Go to Firenze; Spend 3 day (2 nights); Last day including Tuscany…

Cingue Terre

Can I please have opinions on which is the best of the 5 towns to stay in for 4 nights next year, late summer. So many hotels are already booked up, but would prefer the more popular
town.

Cinque Terre swimming

Can anyone tell me if your staying in one of the towns, they look like they are either on cliffs or boat ports.
Where would be best to stay if you wanted to swim each day, perhaps late afternoon, after sightseeing, that is easy to get to a decent beach without hiking up a cliff. Sorry if its a silly question!

Italy trip report October 2014

I asked a lot of questions on this forum before my trip so I thought I'd write a trip report of my experience now that I'm back home.

I went to Florence, Eastern Tuscany, Rome and did a side trip to Barcelona. Had about 10 days in Italy and 3 in Barcelona. This was my first time to Italy.

Florence was amazing with the Piazza's, churches, museums, etc... I really thoroughly enjoyed it. I hit a lot of museums and did a lot of walking. Although it does have to have one of the highest…

Genoa/Liguria (and the CT)

Anyone heading to this area in the next day or two might want to reconsider.

Very heavy rain and floods (with more forecast)..lots of rivers have burst their banks. The civil protection have warned people not to go to the Cinque Terre at the moment,as there is a very high risk of landslides (indeed, most of the trails have been closed for safety reasons).
