The slightly incongruous walled patch of green in the middle of East Jerusalem is the Garden Tomb , a site considered as an alternative to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre for the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus. While enjoying little support for its claims, it is appreciated by many for its tranquillity and charm. As one Catholic priest is reported to have said, ‘If the Garden Tomb is not the true site of the Lord’s death and resurrection it should have been’.
