Lonely Planet review for Belfast Castle

Built in 1870 for the third Marquess of Donegall, in the Scottish Baronial style made fashionable by Queen Victoria’s then recently built Balmoral, the multi-turreted pomp of Belfast Castle commands the south-eastern slopes of Cave Hill. It was presented to the City of Belfast in 1934.

As stated in the LP review...

    eyeseverchanging recommends this,

The interior is quite unfortunately modern. There are bits of information about the history of the castle and the park it is set in... but it is clearly mostly used for weddings and other junctions.

The exterior is gorgeous, and the "cat garden" quite fun! My friend and I had a great time finding all of the cats.

My advice: only go through the interior if you're there for an event. Otherwise, enjoy the exterior and its surroundings.
