Lonely Planet review for City Hall
Restored to its Georgian glory, Dublin’s City Hall is adorned with neoclassical columns, a domed, gilded rotunda and patterned marble floors. Built by Thomas Cooley as the Royal Exchange from 1769 to 1779, the funerals of Michael Collins and Charles Stewart Parnell were held here. The Story of the Capital exhibition in the arched vaults traces Dublin’s history with interesting artefacts, models and multimedia displays.
