Lonely Planet review for Yamamori Sushi

Sushi arrives on the northside and immediately proves successful, but that’s hardly surprising considering that its southside sister has been doing the Japanese thang with great aplomb for a very long time. The menus in both are largely the same, but we prefer this newer location – right on the river – because it’s just that little bit more airy and spacious. The bento boxes are a popular choice, but we really just can’t get enough of the sushi moriawase (€20).

A little piece of sushi away from Japan

Located at the center of Dublin city by the river Liffey it is the perfect place to meet up with friends, family or the other half for a meal. My food experience? As far as I know this is the only place in north side of town center with genuine Japanese food and sushi.

As you walk by the river along with other Dubliners hustling about, you'll reach this place situated nicely near the Happeny bridge. I was skeptical initially, but as I enter it is a very lovely place with romantic ambient especially at night time. With great service, I felt very welcomed and impressed. The food are fresh and true to its Japanese origin. If I may recommend, the tempura meals are to die for! For those who are brave enough for sushi and sashimi, the moriawase is a must. The famous bento boxes are popular and good for quick lunch. The wine list is moderate. However, the desserts are delightful. I'm very particular about vanilla ice cream, but the one I had was simply one of the best.

Dublin is alive at night and many would dine out. I suggest reservation if you're planning a dinner during the weekends and Friday night. Lunchtime would see a crowd of diners who worked near the area. Early evening is the best time when the crowd are less and much quiet, thus the romantic atmosphere. In this current economic situation, the price are reasonable because the portions are large. So its a good quantity and quality for your money spent.

So, as a conclusion, I do enjoy my meal at Yamamori Sushi. Would I come back again? Definitely! Its fun, its good food and most of all its well worth the hard earned money.
