Hidden away, in the city centre of Dublin's Fair City, one can almost believe they have arrived in Spain when they walk into this gem. Away from the damp and the cold, the atmosphere in Market Bar is thriving yet cozy. You could almost forget you were walking into a former sausage factory if it wasn't for the rickety floorboards you step on as you walk through the main door - for those wearing heels, be careful.

Greeted with luxurious red, gothic lighting and high woodern arches, it is instantly warming.  I was then looking forward to the menu of Spanish tapas with an Irish twist. What is so great about this place is the availability of half and half dishes with plenty to share. I enjoyed Spanish style nachos and a selection of cold meats while my companion, a vegetarian, enjoyed a Spanish omelette and side dishes of olives and Irish cheeses. Along with wine, it is of course possible to get the traditional Irish stout that is Guinness. 

The staff were friendly, plying us with more  and more drinks - it is Ireland after all! As our lunch continued into dinner, I realised that this warm inviting place shouldn't be missed - especially on a rainy day.
