Lonely Planet review
Bono and the Edge's discreet little bolthole is no longer the hottest bedroom in town, which is a good thing because the reality never lived up to the hype. Instead, what's left is a handsome boutique hotel designed to reflect the aesthetic of a 1930s gentlemen's club, complete with an excellent bar and a fine restaurant.
Our independent authors have visited The Clarence and selected this as one of our recommended hotels in Temple Bar.
Description provided by property
Owned by Bono and The Edge of U2, The Clarence boasts sumptuous rooms with super king-size, wrought-iron beds and velvet drapes. On the River Liffey, the hotel is situated right in Dublin’s centre.
Each individually designed room features custom-designed and hand-crafted furnishings, and stained glass bedside lamps. There is free Wi-Fi in all rooms, along with American White Oak floors and a private bathroom with limestone flooring.
The hotel’s Therapy area offers a range of relaxing massages and aromatherapy treatments.
The Octagon Bar serves award-winning drinks and cocktails in Art Deco surroundings.
