My wife and I will fly to Dublin from Southampton in late July, and we are planning to take a bus directly from the airport to Galway. How important is it to pre-reserve tickets for such buses? I have found there are at least 2-3 bus lines that we could choose from, and their websites always urge you to reserve in advance, so they get to hold onto your money longer! I'm not opposed to that, and I do like the certainty of knowing I won't show up at the queue to board a full bus and have to…

We are planning a 5 day trip to Donegal in late August. We'll fly in to Belfast I think as it seems the closest airport that is also cheap, and is quicker to get there than from Dublin?

Once there, are there any recommendations for an itinerary given that a) we will be reliant on public transport and b) we are keen photographers?

Many thanks

Hello TTF Friends,
I will be travelling with 4 other adults throughout Ireland from May 28- June 8th. We will start in Dublin and stay until the 31st, at which point we will need to book a car rental for the rest of our trip. I checked out Enterprise and Hertz. They were somewhat expensive. I was hoping I could get some car rental tips from any folks out there that may have figured out the trick to getting a cheap (but reliable) car rental in Ireland. We would be picking the car up in Dublin on…

Day 3: rent car, Dublin to Belfast, sleep Belfast
Day 4: Belfast, sleep Belfast

We'll fly to Dublin from Southampton. We'll have checked bags. We are US citizens. What are the customs and immigration procedures? Roughly how long might the process take, not incl waiting to collect our bags? We're planning to take a bus to Galway from the airport and I'm trying to gauge how long it might take us to get out of the customs area and head toward our bus.

Hi,
Is it neccessary to have a car in Dublin?
I have a very good offer to Rent a car. Thinking about to Rent it directly at the Airport After arrival instead of taking the Public Transport to the Center. How is the Parking Situation in Dublin ?
Thanks
Nina

Hey there:

Planning on taking a trip to Ireland in the fall, and still working on two potential itineraries. The one below is on actually taking the seemingly less popular Northern side. If anyone is willing to review it and/or answer any of my questions, my thanks in advace.

Arrive at Airport around 10:30AM.

Dublin (2 nights)
- Explore the city the rest of the first day, second day either explore more and relax or visit somewhere in the environs (i.e. Newgrange)

Galway City (2 nights)
-…

I've got a congress in Dublin at the beginning of July and I'd like to take the opportunity to see a bit of the country as well while I'm there.
Will be arriving the Saturday before and leaving the following Sunday. So will have the 2 weekends to explore. Any suggestions for what to do in Dublin, is a hop on hop off type tour sufficient? and if there is an overnight stay that somebody can recommend in the countryside. Big outdoors person who enjoys hiking and exploring.
