Introducing Cahir

At the eastern tip of the Galtee Mountains 15km south of Cashel, Cahir (An Cathair; pronounced 'care') is a compact and attractive town that encircles its namesake castle, which does a good job of looking like every castle you ever tried building at the beach, with towers, a moat and battlements. Walking paths follow the banks of the River Suir – you can easily spend a couple of hours wandering about.
