A traditional thatched pub, 2km southeast of Birr, this 200-year-old inn is a great place to sip a pint or enjoy a meal. The hearty cuisine is a belt notch or two above the norm and has won several awards. As well as traditional roasts, there are Asian inspired and vegetarian dishes. The interior is a delight with three brick-clad small bars with open fires, plus a more modern light-wood dining room.
