In the same family since the 1930s, but constantly evolving, this Kilkenny icon has 34 corporate-style rooms with parquet floors and dark wood and sombre-coloured furnishings. The mosaic tiled bathrooms have superb high-power pressure showers. There's a fine restaurant and a popular pub. Breakfast included.
