County Donegal

Weather

In many ways, Donegal seems to defy its northerly location; its thermometers rarely drop below zero, and in summer the temperature can top 25°C. This is largely due to the warm caress of the Atlantic Gulf Stream along the county’s vast coastline. But when the winter winds and heavy rain are ripping through your semiprotective parka, it doesn’t really matter that the ‘official’ temperature is a tolerable 4°C – it can feel arctic. Conversely, when the summer gauge shows that it’s less than 20°C, you’ll soon find yourself stripping down to your swimsuit.
