Donegal's scenic-o-meter starts to crank up when you reach the coast just west of Donegal town, and steadily intensifies as you head north. The hillside village of Mountcharles is the first settlement along the coastal road (N56) west of Donegal town, in fact you'll barely have the speedometer turning when, boom, you're in Mountcharles.
Bruckless scatters about 2km west of Dunkineely. You can saddle up at Deane's Equestrian Centre which offers five-minute pony rides for children (€5), lessons (from €19/16 per adult/child for 30 minutes) and treks (from €35/30 per adult/child for one hour). You'll need to book ahead.
