Lough Eske Castle
Lonely Planet review
Set in vast grounds, this imposing 19th-century castle was all but razed by fire in 1939 but has been painstakingly rebuilt and restored and is now the epitome of elegant country living. Most of the complex including the minimalist rooms, decadent spa and smart restaurant is spanking new but exudes a sense of classic sophistication mixed with impeccable contemporary style.
