This glitzy glass-and-steel structure, constructed in 2005, is swank enough to make visiting rock stars swoon, with a health club, a soaring six-storey atrium, sleek retro-futuristic lobby with fuchsia pink modular lounges, a snazzy bar and a very stylish restaurant, Sinergie.
It might not have the heritage and charm of Cork's historic hotels, but if you're after cutting edge style, this brand-spanking-new 191-room international chain hotel won't disappoint. Smart minimalist rooms have luxurious beds with duvets draped in Egyptian cotton linen, interactive TVs, free broadband (there's also free wi-fi in the lobby), laptop-size in-room safes, and sensored minibars (don't take anything out just to look at or you'll be charged, even if you put it right back). Fluffy towels and Gilchrist & Soames seaweed-extract bath products soften the black granite bathrooms, which are fitted with mist-resistant mirrors. If you want your bodyguard/roadie/groupie close but not too close, there are 10 interconnecting rooms (not to mention several stratas of suites and a penthouse); and the hotel also has 10 rooms equipped for wheelchairs.
