My family is spending a few days in Dublin before renting a car and driving to Moveen West, County Clare. I have some questions about car rental and car rental companies.
1. Is it best to:
a. rent the car in Dublin (I read that driving in Dublin is terrifying especially for people unaccustomed to driving on different sides of the road)
Sorry if this has been asked a million time, I searched but didn't find anything useful.
I will be in Dublin from Saturday to the following Friday. Monday to Friday for work, the weekend I have to pay my own way. It seems like the Leap Visitor Card would be the cheapest option, but to be refunded by my employer I have to have a receipt. If I buy the Visitor Card at the Tourist Information (Visit Ireland, I think it was called) at the airport then I assume I will get some sort of…
Thank you in advance for responding. Even though I can and do explore tourist guides, having your opinion is most useful. Is August top tourist season in Ireland, what can I expect? Iss it crowded, unpleasant. How would you spend 10 days in Ireland?
Myself and my partner are planning an Ireland road trip, we were thinking of 7 days however after reading a few posts and different itineraries I'm starting to think 10 might be better.
Neither of us have ever been to Ireland before however my partners grandparents were from Sligo and Belfast and therefore he wants to factor that into the trip, his parents will meet us for that leg of our journey so would prefer to get those two ticked off at the beginning or at the end of the trip.
I´m from Germany and currently in Dublin til 6th of septembre. Since I don´t really know anyone here, I´m looking for people to hang out with, have a drink or go on day tours on the weekends. I´m 27 and here for an internship at DCU, like the outdoors as much as the indoors, meeting new people from all around the globe and just having a good time.
I am thinking of buying a second hand bike here (where would I do that?), so if anyone is up for a biketour somewhere around Dublin I´d be happy…
I might be able to slip away from home and visit Ireland 2-17 September. Given my work obligations in California, for too many years now I only seem to have time in November, not the best time of the year to visit. This possible September opening might might not recur for a while. However, I am a fan of improvised visits during off or shoulder seasons without a fixed itinerary. So, ideally, after three days in Dublin, I'd like to rent a car and hit the road with carefree abandon.
I have been working hard at my itinerary and trying to figure out a trip that makes sense, gets us to the places we really want to see, and allows us to have just 3 home bases with a couple of one-nighters. We have 14 days, not counting arrival and departure days. We are interested in Irish History.
So I am thinking of the first three nights in Dublin. One of those days we take a tour to the Boyne Valley. This is of HIGH interest to me. The fourth day we pick up our car and drive to Belfast…
Hello, In we arrive in Dublin from Toronto in the late morning. We decided to drive to Galway straight away( looks like 3 hrs approx..) where we will be seeing double by 6-7pm that night from lack of sleep and will crash early. We have the next night in Galway as well and then were thinking of heading to the Cliffs of Moher area on the 17th , 18th ?,19th ? 20th start of 3 nights in Dublin. We were just going to wing it for accommodation on 17 ,18 and 19 as we drive, but the more I look, the more…
Dear fellow travellers,
we would like to make a 10 day trip to Ireland this summer by car and sleep on camping sites with our tent. I find it very difficult to find good places (tripadvisor for camping places doesn't exist! :)). Can anyone recommend good camping places to me? We would like to make a tour and haven't decided with exact places we want to visit, so all areas are good. It's me, my husband and our 2,5 year old daughter who loves being outdoors! Good places/areas/sights to visit are…
Hi, this week we are attending a wedding at Leighlinbridge, County Carlow staying at The Lord Bagenal Inn - we shall have a car over the 4 day period. Other than at the hotel, can anyone suggest good places to eat in the area (we like to always sample good food and wine wherever we travel!)?
Also, any suggestions for good places to lunch/ dine in Dublin (that are relatively easy to find, with us being strangers to Dublin)?
