My wife and I will be on an organized tour of Iran in December, and as there is no ATM or credit card availability we are trying to pinpoint as accurate a budget as possible. We are being told that meals there AVERAGE about $20USD per person. I find it hard to believe that Iranians exist with a cost of living higher than expensive countries such as the UK or Singapore. We love eating local too, is this actually the cost we should expect or can it be done for cheaper? We greatly…
Just got back from an amazing (but very short) 11 days in Iran. It was the most wonderful experience ever - I really wish we had gone for longer, and definitely hope to go back some day! A big thank you to everyone who helped me while I was planning this!
Just writing to share some things from my experience:
Visa, as a British / Canadian citizen - I'm Canadian / British, my husband is British, and we were keen to travel independently so we went with the agency lots of people on Thorntree…
Depending on passport there is visa on arrival or ally in the embassy requirements so need to check. Since I had to get it ahead of the traveling it took not time to get through immigration, longer line was for Iranian passports.
When you land you can get sim card on arrival just outside the gate at IKA and $10 (exchange into reals at the departure level) gives you plenty of air time however coverage is spotty and getting required bandwidth is a challenge. But Google maps worked all the time. I…
I have come back from Iran and would like to recommend you an interesting place in Mashhad to stay and have good time. It is the home of Mr. Vali Ansari Astaneh and his family. It is not a hotel or hostel but the home full of rugs and carpets, with great family atmosphere and delicious home made food. Mr Vali is taking guests to his home for many years, so he has experience. Except of it he is the local guide, knows a lot about the region and speaks many languages. He deals with rugs…
me and a friend will spend two weeks in Iran during October and would love to climb Mt. Alam Kuh via the easier Hesar Chal route.
Any information about weather conditions, recommended guides, accommodation at the starting point eg. are most welcome. We would need tent and food maybe also sleeping bags and mats.
Thank you very much!!
I am travelling to Iran for the month of November, and trying to figure out how much USD cash to budget.
I have good friends in Iran who will be putting me up for most of the time, so I don't expect to have to pay for very much accommodation and probably not too much food either. Regardless though, I don't want to get stuck without enough cash so wondering what people budgeted for a month there?
Thanks in advance!
I am planning my 12 days trip to Iran. Is it possible to get from Persepolis to Yazd by shared taxi?
My idea was after spending one or 2 of days in Shiraz, move to Persepolis and from there to go to Yazd. I would like to avoid having to go back to Shiraz
Hi forum,I would like to apply for a visa to visit Iran and have several questions:
Should I apply for the Visa beforehand or VOA?
Should I travel without my American Passport?
Will there be any issues since my Italian passport lists that I am born in the USA?
Thank you to anyone who replies.
