Lonely Planet review for Sarkis Cathedral

In case you assume that Islam has a monopoly on Iranian life, visit Sarkis Cathedral. Built between 1964 and 1970, it’s interesting not so much for its beauty but because of what it is and where it is. Sarkis Cathedral is by far the most visible and important non-Islamic religious building in Tehran.

    Saint Sarkis is an Armenian Apostolic church.

    Saint Sarkis is an Armenian Apostolic church and there are many Armenian churches in Tehran, Isfahan and other cities of Iran. St. Thadeos Bartoghemeos is the oldest Armenian church in Tehran (18th century). But the churches in Isfahan are older (17th century).
