I understand that some prescription drugs are not legal to possess in Iran, even if they were lawfully prescribed by a doctor elsewhere. Has anyone traveled to Iran with prescription drugs? What was your experience? Does anyone know of a list of illegal drugs in Iran, including prescription drugs?
I am planning to travel in Iran in July 2015, arriving there from Turkmenistan. When arriving I will have already be travelling for 6 months in Russia and Central Asia, and I was wondering if there is a way to avoid carrying plenty of euros in cash all the way so I can change money once in Iran. Is it possible to change for example Uzbek currencies?
Dear fellow travelers
Which currency is better to exchange in Iran: euros or US dollars?
Is it true that only brand new, recently issued, large denomination banknotes are generally accepted?
I've checked public holidays, Ramadan and weather, but I'm just wondering if there are any other specific times of the year that we should avoid travel in Iran (if we are able to avoid it). Are there any times that are particularly busy periods when it is difficult to travel around/book buses and hotels, etc.?
For example, in Malaysia every beach/holiday/touristy type place is booked out during Malaysian and Singaporean school holidays.
Thanks for any comments.

Just wondering if there is anyone out there who would like to celebrate Christmas with us in Iran. Our families are on the other side of the world so we would love to have lunch or dinner with some new friends on Christmas Day to celebrate the Christmas spirit. We will be in the vicinity of Shiraz or Yazd but would be willing to travel somewhere within reasonable distance.
If anyone has any recommendations of what we could do on Christmas Day, that would also be appreciated.
I am currently in Iran. I have a flight from Shiraz to Mehrabad airport on 20 Dec. and will arrive Mehrabad airport on 23:00. In the next morning, I have a flight back to istanbul on 21 Dec, 6:20 am. So I'd like to go straight to sleep in a hotel nearby IKA but I couldnt found any. (have booked Enghelab hotel on that night and considering cancel it since I might only have 2-3 hours to be in the hotel.)
Any suggestion? I have read somewhere here that you should be there at least 3 hr…
