Lonely Planet review for Bazar-e Bozorg

Esfahan’s Bazar-e Bozorg links Imam Sq with the Jameh Mosque, 1.7km northeast. The bazaar’s arched passageways are topped by a series of small domes, each with an aperture at its apex spilling shafts of light onto the commerce below. While the oldest parts of the bazaar, around the Jameh Mosque, are more than a thousand years old, most of what you see today was built during Shah Abbas’ aggressive expansions in the early 1600s.

Another highlight of the Imam Square area.

    katmar33 recommends this,

This bazaar is full of artisans making traditional Iranian goods of very high quality. It is a very dynamic place, at the heart of Esfahan, so yes it is "touristy" and there is the usual mix of tacky and traditional you find in all Iranian bazaars. But that is half the fun! In particular look out for the traditional handicrafts - be that intricate metalwork, painted miniatures, hand-stamped fabric, wooden mosaics, Persian carpets and the delectable local nougat called 'gaz'.
