I am going to Raja Ampat next 20 december 2014.Do you know if it is easy to find homestay accomodation when I get there, or is it better to book in advance? Do you know if there is public transport to batanta island and how much is it?
I'm an American teaching in Jakarta, and I'm going to be spending Christmas, New Years, my birthday, and my traveling mate's birthday in Manado (December 20-Jan 4). She dives, I don't...though I do enjoy snorkeling. Are there any activities or places that we should definitely not miss?--especially, for non-diving me! I found on-line that there is a Santa Claus parade and the "tallest Christmas tree in Indonesia" so those are definitely on my list, as I am missing the holidays at home. Any other…

I was wondering, actually hoping, someone can give me some information about finding a guide who can take me and my friend to visit the kubu tribe in sumatra. We arrived in jambi (the city) today and are hoping to find a guide here. So far anyone we've asked here could not help us any further...
If there is someone out there who can help us, it would be very much appreciated!
I am a wildlife enthusiast planning a trip to Sumatra for February. I'm a budget traveler and intend to stay in hostels/take public transport when possible.
I will have about two weeks to spend in the country and will absolutely be spending time in Bukit Lawang, where I hope to do a three or four night jungle trek to see lots of wildlife. I'm considering spending 5 or 6 nights in the area, but am open to alternate suggestions.
Are there any other highly recommended places to view…
On january 5, I'll arrive in Waisai and need to connect to Gam Island. How can I get there ? I'll be staying near Wasinggarai Village.
If someone knows the trick, please share. Or even better, if anyone going that direction, I'm willing to share boat costs.
On january 8, the same applies in the opposite direction.
I'm planning on traveling in Indonesia for 45 days in the summer (mid-June, July, mid-August). I'd like to make sure that a second 30-day visa on arrival can be issued if I fly back to Indonesia from another country (Malaysia). I need to get the facts straight because I'm about to press the button regarding plane tickets. I've done some research, but haven't found anything conclusive yet.
Thanks for your help and safe travels
