Bias Tugal
Walk southwest from the ferry terminal and follow the trail up the hill to idyllic Bias Tugal, also known as Pantai Kecil (Little Beach), on the exposed coast outside the bay. Be careful in the water; as it is subject to strong currents. There are a couple of daytime warung here.

Pangandaran Beach
Like most south-coast beaches, Pangandaran has black sand. The surf can be treacherous, particularly the northern end of the west beach, where people still drown regularly. South from Bumi Nusantara Hotel, the beach is patrolled (sometimes) and is sheltered by the headland, so swimming is safer.

Mushroom Bay Beach
This gorgeous little bay, unofficially named for the mushroom corals offshore, has a perfect crescent of white-sand beach. During the day, the tranquillity may be disturbed by banana-boat rides or parasailing. In the morning and the evening, it's delightful.

Main Beach
The best beach areas include the main beach east of the Dolphin Monument as well as the curving stretch a bit west. The cluster of cheap hotels in Anturan also enjoy fun in the sand.

Pasir Putih Beach
Pangandaran's best beach, Pasir Putih Beach, on the western side of the national park, is now off limits to stop the hordes that have destroyed the reef.

Dream Beach
Down a little track on the south side of the island, this 150m crescent of white sand has pounding surf and a cute little café.

On the other side of a headland at the northeast corner of the bay is the small, light-sand Blue Lagoon Beach.
