    talkin jazz in Bali? not jazz cafe nor Jazz 'Bar and grill...!! But go to coffee and silver in Ubud, on the steep road of Monkey forest street. It has only once a week live jazz every tuesday night starting 7pm-9.30pm. It is real jazz! brings back you to the good old days. The band plays swing, bebop superbly! (no pops & top 40 allowed)...the night is really dedicated to those who love 'REAL JAZZ"

    Hot jazz

    nthorpe you must have gone on one of their top 40 nights. They sound terrible and I avoided them like the plague. On the jazz nights they had some really hot players, an excellent house band and one night I was there, a young girl from Java whose dad had brought her and wanted to send her to the con in Amsterdam was singing - as good as any jazz I've ever heard.

    Good for: music

    Not good for: Top 40

    Bar? Sure. Grill? Yep. Jazz? Nope.

    the bar tender's name is Johnny Walker. He makes mean Arak cocktails, and he'll entertain you with wild tales all night. Great bar.

    But the music will make you long for deafness to overtake you. It's not Jazz - it's just more of the watery Karaoke that infests the island of Bali. If you want Jazz, go to the Jazz Cafe in Ubud, where the best players some from all over to play, and the music is really alive. The architecture is pure Bali too. The breezes flow right through the open space and you can enjoy the music, food & cocktails from your own mini pavillion on a small pond if you like.

    Good for: drinking

    Not good for: live music
