Elsewhere in Denpasar, a short distance north on Jl Veteran, Pasar Burung is a bird market with hundreds of caged birds and small animals for sale, including guinea pigs, rabbits and monkeys. There are also gaudy birdcages. An impromptu dog market also operates directly opposite the bird market. While you're here, have a look at the elaborate Pura Sutriya, just east of the market.

    Birds, monkeys, turtles, cats, puppies, fish, name it!!!!!!!

    During my stay in Bali, I wanted to find a traditional bird cage for my canary in Greece. I asked a local where there is a bird market and he told me to go to Pasar Burung. After getting lost in the jam packed streets of Bali I drove for an hour and half with my scooter and finally ended in this extraordinary animal trade market, where one can buy pets ranging from parrots to small monkeys! I finally found a beautiful hand made bamboo bird cage for around 10 dollars! An experience to remember!!!
