The diesel toy train leaves Darjeeling at 9.15am for NJP (2nd/1st class Rs 45/247, seven hours), stopping at Ghoom (Rs 20/96, 50 minutes), Kurseong (Rs 26/144, three hours) and Siliguri (Rs 38/217, 6½ hours). It’s an exhausting haul to NJP, so if you simply want to experience the train, take the steam train to/from Kurseong or the joy ride.
