    Blog: My Travels My Experiences - 2 May 2011

    On our way to Haridwar we stopped at  Pawan Dham, a glass temple which one should not miss while visiting Haridwar. As the name implies,it is primarily a Hanuman Mandir(temple) but you will find almost all Hindu deities made of glass intricately carved. Also aesthetically designed glass work of deities are found on the temple wall apart from the glass idols. Thats where the beauty of Pawan Dham lies. This  modern and untraditional temple is 2kms from Haridwar town.

  4. Haridwar, India

    Blog: .:: MapaRiscado - 23 February 2011

    Haridwar é uma cidade santa no norte da India a umas 4 horas de Nova Deli.Em 2006, depois de 4 dias num Raft baixando o rio Alaknanda (e depois o Ganges até Rishikesh), dei por mim nesta cidade á beira rio plantada. A gente do acampamento de Rafting deixou-me aqui ao meio dia e fui á procura de sítio para dormir. "Escolhi" um sítio manhoso , mesmo em frente á enorme estaçao de comboios é que no dia seguinte tinha uma viagem de 14 horas até Orcha e nao queria arriscar a perder a minha ligaçao.

  6. Watching The Sadhus

    Blog: Quillcards - 11 May 2010

    Sadhus are always interesting because they have cast off the normal obligations of life. As with our earlier encounter with them they are always visually interesting and exotic. I took this photograph in Haridwar in the state of Uttarakand in the north west of India during the Kumbh Mela (Hindu pilgrimage meeting) that took place there [...]Watching The Sadhus is a post from: Quillcards

  7. A Surprising Sadhu In Haridwar In India

    Blog: Quillcards - 3 March 2010

    The world is full of contrasts. Never is this brought home more strongly than when the contrasts cut across established ideas. For example, I have a certain image of sadhus. A sadhu is someone who has dedicated his life to achieving liberation. Within the Hindu religious system, this means escaping the otherwise endless cycle of life [...]A Surprising Sadhu In Haridwar In India is a post from: Quillcards

  8. Haridwar

    Blog: Leave Me Here - 26 October 2009

    We decided to go to Rishikesh for Diwali and to see the Ganges, except the only problem was we didn’t have enough time. The closest we could get was Haridwar, and upon reading that it was the much more spiritually significant than Rishikesh, and it was the beginning of the Ganges, it sounded a good [...]
