Buses run from the adjacent UP Roadways and KMOU bus stands on the Mall roughly hourly until 3pm to Ranikhet (Rs 40, two hours), Kausani (Rs 40, 2½ hours) and Bhowali (Rs 40, two hours). From Bhowali it’s only a short bus or share-jeep ride to Nainital. Hourly buses run to Bageshwar (Rs 56, two hours), from where you can pick up buses or share jeeps to Song and Munsyari for the Pindari and Milam glacier treks. There’s a 6.30am bus to Pithoragarh (Rs 90, five hours) from the Dharanaula bus stand on the Bypass Rd. One bus goes direct to Banbassa (Rs 130, six hours) from the KMOU stand for the Nepal border crossing.

Lion Tours (230860; the Mall) runs a daily deluxe overnight bus to Delhi (Rs 280, 11 hours) which leaves at 7pm.
