Several moneychangers and hotels offer a faster service than the banks at slightly lower rates. There’s a State Bank of India ATM at Godaulia Crossing and numerous other ATMs scattered around the city.

Bank of Baroda (2366150; 1st fl, Dasaswamedh Ghat Rd; 11am-6.30pm Mon-Fri, 11am-2pm Sat) Exchanges all major currencies and travellers cheques, and will provide cash advances on major credit cards.

State Bank of India (2343742; the Mall; 10am-2pm & 2.30-4pm Mon-Fri, 10am-1pm Sat) Will exchange US dollar, pound and euro travellers cheques and many currencies.
