An unforgettable journey from Jammu to Srinagar: How these men made my day
Blog: 99 + 1 countries - 20 September 2009
Night bus from Amritsar to Jammu arrived in Jammu at 4.30 in the morning. It was pitch black. The driver of the private bus told me it was the Jammu bus station but I doubt it was.Rather, it seemed like I had been dropped from the bus to some wasteland over which a massive concrete bridge streched.

Rajasthan
Blog: By Way of the World - 19 September 2009
We began our 10-day whirlwind tour of Rajasthan in Agra, which is technically not in the state of Rajasthan, but very close. Our next stop was Jaipur. Jaipur is known as the "pink city" because most of the buildings are painted a shade of orangey-pink.

The Taj!
Blog: Travelicious - 16 September 2009
We took a train to Agra, which is not the most interesting nor charming city, but it does have one thing going for it – Taj Mahal. It was surprisingly quiet and peaceful at the Taj Mahal, mostly Indian tourists. They also only have to pay 10 rupees to get in, whereas foreigners have to pay a whooping 750 rupees. But I guess it is worth it, it really is beautiful. We took a quiet little moment on a bench, Martin looking at the Taj Mahal me looking into the tree above us, as there were a whole family of green parrots living in it! What beautiful birds.

Delhi as a first point of entry into India
Blog: 99 + 1 countries - 8 September 2009
My first day of the trip here in Delhi was... most uneventful. I arrived safe and sound, took a 50 rs bus to Connought Place and a ricksha to my prebooked guesthouse in Pahar Ganj. I thought I had been tricked into paying too much for the first time on this trip before even stepping on Indian soil as I had agreed over e-mail to pay Ajay guesthouse 490 rs (8 euros) for a night even though the website said the price was 300. But I had a whopping room: A flat screen tv, air con, window with a view and hot water!

31. You always refer to Indian cities by their new, post-colonial names. Yes, even Thiruvananthapuram. 32. Kharma Coma

“In India, anything is possible,” a tour guide we travelled with was fond of saying. Probably the occasion where this phrase seemed most apt was when we got to see the Dalai Lama in the flesh.
