Land
Bus
Buses run to Madurai every 10 minutes (Rs 49, four hours). There are SETC buses to Chennai (Rs 228, 12 hours, one daily), Kanyakumari (Rs 108, 10 hours, two daily) and Trichy every half-hour (Rs 82, seven hours).
There are also private buses and minibuses from the town centre to Chennai (Rs 400) and Madurai (Rs 125).
Train
Rameswaram’s train line was closed in 2006 for an upgrade to broad gauge. It will take at least a couple of years to reopen.
