Good morning/afternoon/evening to my fellow travellers - depending on where in the world you currently are!
My name is Jamie, and I am now beginning my journey as a Thorn Tree regular blogger on India and general travel photography questions. I am here to answer any questions regarding photographing in India and any camera-related problems/queries you may come across while backpacking in a far off land. Below are a few subjects I shall be broaching over the next few weeks and many many more…
I've had a quick search and could only find things relating to basic sim cards.
The last couple of years have seen me mainly staying in hostels and budget guesthouses in Central and South America, most of which had free wifi. I used to travel with a netbook but that died in Nicaragua. It was very handy being able to hook it up to the internet in internet cafes by plugging in a lan cable on previous trips but was less necessary on the Central trip as there was so much wifi. I've now got a…
I am looking to stay in Mumbai on the 28th December and have booked an overnight train on the 29th. I want to walk around the city in the day (29th) but am worried about where to leave my bag (as I can't leave it at the hotel I want to book).
Can anyone recommend a good/ budget hotel where I can securely leave my bag or if there are any other options?
I was planning a photo reportage on the Howrah bridge during my next trip to Kolkata on February but I've read photography is striclty prohibited, do you think I can shoot from start/end bridge?
Do you suggest other photogenic place? Flower Market and what else?
Thanks for any suggestion, best regards from italy!!!

I don't need deck chairs, frozen Daiquiris and a beach tourism scene, but from my relaxing beach room would still explore villages under palmtrees, backwaters (if any), rice fields and would like to use bicycle or motorcycle.
Do you have a placename that's worth researching? (Not interested in Rameswaram.) I would like a room close to nature and/or beach…
I am a UK passport holder travelling from London to Singapore via Delhi. I have a 12 hour layover in Delhi (arriving at 10:40am and departing at 10:30pm).
If possible, I would like to explore the surrounding area for a few hours with the cheapest visa available.
I have checked several websites and attempted to contact the Indian Embassy in the UK, and neither has been able to provide any definitive information. My main issues are:
which is the cheapest visa available to UK passport…
Hello! In late june I will start a study abroad trip in Taiwan. However, I have the option of a side trip to either Japan or India. I've been to Japan before (2 weeks) but I really like the country, and I'd like to see more of Tokyo and see new places there, like Hokkaido. However, I can also visit India, which would be very new to me. Most likely I would see Delhi, Varanasi, and Chennai, along with some other places in Tamil Nadu. Plus, I could take advantage of the visa on arrival for US…
