Traditional Rajput decor and costuming combine with modern comforts to ensure a graceful getaway here. Hunting relics (à la antelope heads) in hallways add a head-turning, though perhaps not tasteful to all, touch.
The hotel, restored by The Grand hotel chain after it purchased the property in 2002, indeed radiates grandeur. And its admirable perch on a hilltop affords views onto Udaipur, nearby Fateh Sagar Lake and the Aravalli Hills. The rooms (there are 55 in total, including 14 suites) have cream-coloured walls decorated with simple yet classy traditional art; they come with cushioned window seats with stunning views as well as all the mod cons. Ensconced in the 23 acres of lawn are a pool and spots from which to admire - well, we've got to say it - more unbelievable views. A bar, multicuisine restaurant and the offer of massages may make it difficult to descend the mountaintop. The staff can be commended for their professionalism and welcoming air.
