Lonely Planet review

It may not be oozing with an intimate charm. But with its well-appointed rooms and lofty perch on a hilltop, this modern hotel offers comfort from on high, affording fab views all around.

From the hotel's place on Ambavgarh Hill, you can even catch those stellar glimpses of the horizon below from the generously sized pool (with only 'natural heat', say staff, meaning that during winter months there's nothing resembling heat in there at all). The large lawn with tables is a relaxing spot and one of the big pluses of a stay here. Off the lobby, an open room serves as a beer bar. Gamers will be pleased to have options of both a pool table and table tennis, and Rajasthani folk dance entertainment in the evening can be arranged. The 62 air-conditioned rooms come with marble-top desks, telephone, TV and elegant furnishings. Interestingly, the ceilings are a tad low - potentially a negative for the taller-than-average among us.
