This delightful hotel appeals for its peaceful location away from the tourist epicentre (it’s still within 10 minutes’ walking distance of the old city but feels a world away), its creature comforts (including a well-being spa) and friendly servi.
It may not be oozing with an intimate charm. But with its well-appointed rooms and lofty perch on a hilltop, this modern hotel offers comfort from on high, affording fab views all around.
Location, location. Yes, much of the resplendence of the Lake Palace Hotel has to do with the sheer fact that it is seemingly floating on Pichola Lake.

Poonam has spacious rooms with big beds – the best have lake views. The 007 room has arches elegant as a raised eyebrow, while the suite has a spa and room to spare.
The friendly management at this breezy place encourage you to 'feel a divine presence'. The restaurant is relaxed and serves good rice dishes; rooms are streamlined and tidy, though a touch overpriced.
A well-run hotel with numerous rooms, varying widely in size and comfort. The top-floor rooms have fantastic city views. Other salient features include a lift for those tired of stairs, a tiny pool, an art shop and a rooftop restaurant.
A central hotel that has spotless, brightly painted rooms, individually decorated with puppets and wall hangings – the cheapest rooms are a real bargain. On top is the three-tiered Sun & Moon rooftop restaurant where you can watch movies.
