Lonely Planet review
Built in 1902 on the eastern side of town, this is one of the region’s few buildings to have been thoroughly restored. The paintings are defined in strong colours, as they must have looked when new. Note the trompe l’œil windows on the facade, the fresco subjects (including religious scenes, trains, cars and the British people) and the curious panel that depicts a bull’s head from one side and an elephant’s head from the other. On the ground floor are several galleries on Rajasthani culture, including examples of different schools of painting, turbans, tablas and polystyrene forts.
