Palace Hotel, Bikaner House
Lonely Planet review
Out towards the Delwara Temples is this huge hilltop palace, designed by Sir Swinton Jacob in the 1890s as a summer residence for the maharaja of Bikaner. The sprawling grey-and-pink stone building resembles a stately Scottish manor, with tree-shaded gardens, a private lake, two tennis courts and a restaurant. There are 33 massive, formally decorated rooms; the ones in the old wing have the most character – some feel, as does the grand old dining room, very much like you’ve stepped into a little piece of Britain, or at least the British Raj.
Our independent authors have visited Palace Hotel, Bikaner House and selected this as one of our recommended hotels in Mt Abu.
