Lonely Planet review for OM

The rocket-shaped icon of Jaipur houses a revolving restaurant that leaves you dining 56m up among the smog-sheltered stars. The surrounds are glitzy, and the hard-core veg - and booze-free - menu is superb. A revolution takes 45 minutes, but service is invariably quicker. Keep your hands off the buffet - it doesn't match the à la carte. It's off MI Rd.

    OM Pakhodas

    dhanuraj recommends this,

It was a stressful day for us travelling to the outskirts of the Pink city and roaming in and around the Amber fort and the palace. The knowledge of OM revolving restaurant took us there.

But its worthwhile for a fine evening. We were quite early to reach there by around 5PM, the entry was allowed but the waiters said they can deliver the main course only by after 6:30 PM and that is the time when OM starts revolving also the time when the tourists and the rich local Jaipuri merchants arrive after their day's work with their family.

We were a little disappointed by this, but we were so hungry we could not wait nor we could go out and find another good restaurant. At that moment the waiter assured us to serve snacks. I was pleased moreover Indian snacks (usually called Pakodas)are usually good enough to suffice the hunger. We ordered the pakodas with paneer (cottage Indian cheese or unaged cheese popular in North India) and he delivered it rather quick with the Indian masala chai (Indian milk tea).

Although the amount was more than substantial we managed to clean the plate in a few minutes. Our burning desire for food made us order more and more pakodas of various form and taste made out from different vegetables dipped in fried pastry of flours. The vegetables mostly onions, potatoes, cauliflower. By the time we finished all the snacks we had no more space for the main course. So we had to stop with one more round of masala tea, by then OM started revolving. We enjoyed the evening looking at the busy and congested streets and lights of the city
