Lonely Planet review for Shangri-La Plus

A Chinese restaurant with high prices and slow service but generous servings when they arrive. Try the yaki gyoza - dumplings with hot garlic sauce.

    Shangri-La Plus

    ejmiglorie recommends this,

The outer appearance of Shangri-La Plus is a tattered and definitely aged looking building, that strongly misrepresents the charms and delights this food sanctuary has to offer. I was just beginning to gather the fact that India is full of misrepresentation, in turn I made the decision to indulge--so I scrambled my way through the rustic building doors and continued up the flights of stairs. Opening the actual restaurant door, my eyes were very happy to see such an orderly and well designed dim dining room.

A very acute menu led me to order the Chow Mein, and receiving my order was a cheery and coherent server who gave me just the right dosage of service throughout my meal. Communication was the servers key, all of them were very talkative and made strides to ensure that I was satisfied with all the elements Shangri-La Plus offers. The ceiling lanterns projected faint light , which allowed for a clear and conscious state of mind.

For the first time in India I was taking a break, and it was there, in the comfort of the velvet room that I realized how confronting India is. Every other meal besides this one was spent wrestling with whomever I was trying to get food from, which is part of it, but Shangri-La Plus truly offered something else besides the Chow Mein and pristine water. I would recommend Shangri as one of those places that keep your mind set, and replenish your willingness to persevere and continue to experience what you're after.
