Lonely Planet review for Khana Khazana

A popular street stall with a few chairs and tables scattered outside. Alfresco diners savour tandoori chicken, chicken biryani or large serves of delicious chow mein featuring chicken, vegetables and prawns. Traditional Bengali hot rolls (try the tandoori chicken) are the cheapest and tastiest snack in town for Rs. 20.

    hats off to khana khazana

    amrutpattnaik recommends this,

after a short drive on the lewis road towards city centre at kalpana square we stopped near the one marked khana khazana. according to the locallittes this one was supposed to be the best in that area. as i got out of the car i was dumbfounded looking at the exteriors of the building.they showcased fine archetecturial designs with magnificient gothic arches and many outlets of snacks and juice stalls have been extended from the main building. at the entrance stood a smart security guard who bowed traditionally and welcomed us by opening the door. the first thing i noticed was the well furnished interiors of the restaurant. they were in accord with the modern western lines. then the tables arranged in a pentagonal manner caught my eye.light and wonderful music in the background relaxed our mind and in turn relaxed our starved stomachs. we had no time to take a look at the cuisines in the menu. we just ordered the fine mannered waiter to serve us chicken biriyani which according to the localittes was the most wonderful dish of the restaurant.
as we sat and gazed around the aroma from the plates of the people sitting close to us tickled our smelling sensations and urged our stomach to produce a lot of gastric juices. soon our order was brought by a waitress who beautifully laid the plates and royally served us the biriyani. it was simply delicious and lip smacking. we ate to our full. i was so satisfied with the behaviour of the staff and the environment that my hands urged to give a handsome tip. anyone in my place would have done that. with a satisfied stomach and relaxed mind we were escorted out of the restaurant by another waiter. concluding i would say that khana khazana is a must visit for food loving people coming to bhubaneswar.
