Lonely Planet review for Basilico

A très sleek, Euro-style bistro, Basilico whips up creative fresh pastas, salads and couscous that will make you melt. Vegies will flat out die – from either the wholesome green salad (mixed lettuce, corn, asparagus and sprouts with feta, lime and olive-oil dressing; Rs225) or the homemade mushroom and goat-cheese canelloni (Rs340). The coup de grâce? It’s also a bakery. The Bandra branch ([tel] 67039999, open noon to midnight) is on St John Rd, next to HDFC, Pali Naka.

    Nice Southern European restaurant

    dutch_girl recommends this,

It's been a few years since I ate there, and now planning to come back to India I wondered if it is still there. The food is nice and staff is friendly.

    A great little place!

    crazy_biker_gp recommends this,

A quiet corner in Bombay. The service is pleasant and the food is consistent. The most pleasant is to come to brunch. It's a real treat!

    Unauthentic food

    jaqbnimble1 does not recommend this,

Tried the eggs Benedict - tasted horrible and the spinach had an undertone of iron.... hollandaise was horrible and the soft drinks made me wince. Pretentious place with loud music and a very uncomfortable atmosphere. Would not recommend this place.

Basilico for a lazy, light and feel good meal

    jayatimaitra recommends this,

Here we are talking about the Bandra eatery. One of the best part of this branch of Basilico is its cheerful and buzzing family friendly atmosphere and kid friendly menu( like yummy pasta and gorgeous chocolate based desserts). The perfectly grilled fish (nice portion of rawas fillet)with aromatic lime sauce and crunchy vegetables is very light on the stomach. Grilled chicken with pepper sauce is good but a little salty for my taste.Kids would love the pastas. Penne in a creamy tomato based sauce and conchiglie in tomato sauce are very heart warming. In the appetisers, the new wasabi prawn is good. When we were curious to know, the attending waiter was friendly enough to show us the tube of imported wasabi paste. There is lack of consistency in some of dishes e.g garlic bread with cheese. One day it was crisp and flavorful, the other day soggy. Wish they would atleast serve beer and wine.It is a heaven for dessert lovers. Dark chocolate mud hot with icecream is the way to finish your meal. A real feel good value for money place.

Basilico - And there were two of them

    nitashapranit recommends this,

The Food is yummy, the desserts are yummiest. Try the Molten Lava , its super delicious. Has a wide variety of Egg-less desserts as well. Basilico has two outlets - one in colaba and the other in Bandra. The Colaba may score lower on the atmosphere, the Bandra one is better and often frequented by celebrities.
