My gf and I will be cycling from Shimla to Leh in July/August. We just learned that Inner Line Permits are no more for foreigners and we now have to apply for "Protected Area Permits" (PAP). From what we can tell from this website:
http://www.immihelp.com/nri/protected-restricted-area-permit-india.html
We will need at least two PAP, one from Pooh to Kaza on the way to the Spiti Valley, and then at least another one to explore the area around Leh (Khardung La, the Nubra valley, Pangong Tso, Tso…

Hi everyone,
I have some questions regarding what to wear in India as I'll be there this summer for the first time.

I recently started to research this and I read I should cover my knees, shoulders, and show no cleavage.

I researched in Instagram though the hashtag of the destinations I'll be in to understand what tourists were wearing but as I saw from very short shorts to spaghetti straps, I don't really trust to wear what others chose to wear.

I'll be in Rajasthan, Agra, Varanasi…

I am staying in Chail (near Shimla) for 2 weeks in late July, and I would like to go on a trip into the mountains at the weekend.
Ideally I would like to go somewhere beautiful, mountainous, but most importantly that there is a reliable bus route.
I would love to visit McLeod Ganj/Dharamshala but I can't find any buses. Are there bus routes? If it is possible I could leave on Friday , bus overnight, spend the night in McLeod Ganjg then get the bus back for Monday. Does this sound possible?

If…

I have googled. The information from Google is not clear.

Do any of you who've been to Goa know anything about a foreigner being able to study Portuguese at a language center or other school?

Private teacher of Portuguese available?

Thanks in advance if you have any info.

Deciding on a route from Udaipur to Jodhpur which we want to cover within one day. Interesting places along the way seem to be Om Banna (motorcycle shrine, this is the most interesting to us), Ranakpur (people seem to like it but from pictures it does not look all that great) and Kumbhalgarh (worried about seeing too many forts in Rajasthan, is this really worth the detour?). Are there any other interesting places along the way?

A few questions:

With an early start (7-8am) is it possible to…

Hi,

I will be in India this July/beginning of August and would love to do a 3 or 4 day, moderate trek somewhere with nice weather and beautiful scenery. Thinking Valley of Flowers, but not sure we have enough time, and would love to know other options.

We would have to leave Delhi on Sunday and be back by Wednesday night or Thursday morning. We will not have our own camping gear so it would have to be with a guide that provides gear rentals...

Any ideas/itineraries?

Thanks!

Traveling to Mumbai(my native place) from Delhi with newborn in rainy season, as rain is at heights there. Is it safe to visit this time or I should wait for weather to get better?
