Lonely Planet review for Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum
This fascinating museum is one of Pune’s true delights. Housing only a fraction of the 21,000-odd objects of daily life collected by Dinkar Gangadhar, who died in 1990, it’s worth an entire day out. The quirky collection includes a suit of armour made of fish scales and crocodile skin, hundreds of hookah pipes, writing instruments, lamps, toys, betel-nut cutters and an amazing gallery of musical instruments.

Impressive Museum. A definite must-see in Pune!
nat_b recommends this,
The Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum does a magnificent job of taking one back to the Mughal and Maratha periods. It contains a spectacular collection of artifacts and exhibits from everyday items to sculptures, paintings and ornately carved palace doors from all over India - and shows off the unparalleled skill of Indian craftsmanship.
A must-see is the recreation of the original Mastani Mahal belonging to Peshwa Bajirao and his concubine Mastani where one can lose themselves in the romance and resplendent beauty of old - an absolute marvel!
Set aside a couple of hours to explore and then head over to nearby Laxmi Road for an unforgettable shopping and eating experience.
