I visit South India early next year. I am going to walk from Madurai to Kochi.
I would follow principal roads and walk approximately 20 miles each day. I’m in the very early stages of planning but could anyone suggest how long this walk might take?
My inspiration is Alastair Humphreys who walked across India following the course of a holy river. I too would love to walk coast to coast but as my time is limited I plan to start in Madurai.
Any advice, tips and recommendations would be…

I'm a British citizen currently living in Australia on my second working holiday visa.
I want to take a trip to India for a month just for travel, but can't seem to find any information about whether I can apply for an Indian visa whilst outside of the UK .... Can anybody help? Do I have to go back to England to apply for the visa or is there any way I can obtain it from Australia?
Thanks in advance :)
I am frequent traveler in India and keep looking for hotel deals and restaurant deals. Recently I got to know about Reverse bidding process for Hotel booking. Earlier, I had only heard about Bidding, can someone tell me about the Reverse Bidding process and how does it work for hotel booking sites?
I figured that's what I would do, prior to my India trip, so I could buy a SIM card in Mumbai. But then I read somewhere that it's really hard for tourists in India to buy a SIM card. Is this true, and if so why? Why would the Indian government make that difficult?
Are the Babus in New Delhi going to implement it soon? And are they going to put a money spin on it - like send us to a counter to pay $60 first and then head to the Immigration counter to get our pasport stamped. Some other countries (like Indonesia) do ask for $25 first and only after that you can go through Immigration but asking for more is a bit too much. They really think this will attract more tourists? I hope it would be like Thailand, where they give VOA without any money transaction…
