There are frequent trains to Trivandrum (2nd class/AC chair Rs 24/142, 45 minutes) and Kollam (Rs 20/142, 35 minutes), and three a day to Alleppey (Rs 38/155, two hours). It’s easy to get to Kollam in time for the morning backwater boat to Alleppey. From Temple Junction, four daily buses go to/from Trivandrum (Rs 36, 1½ hours) and one express bus goes to Kollam at 11.15am (Rs 34, one hour). Many slower buses also head to Kollam, or alternatively you can catch a bus or autorickshaw to the highway junction 7km away for more frequent express buses rumbling north.
