Land

Bus

Kollam is situated on the well-serviced Trivandrum–Kollam–Alleppey–Ernakulam bus route, with superfast/superexpress (sic) buses going every 10 or 20 minutes to Trivandrum (Rs 42, 1½ hours), Alleppey (Rs 52, two hours) and Kochi (Rs 84, 3½ hours). Buses depart from the KSRTC Bus Stand.

Train

There are frequent trains to Ernakulam (2nd class/AC chair Rs 46/177, 3½ hours, 12 daily) and Trivandrum (Rs 31/167, 1¼ hours, nine daily), as well as four daily trains to Alleppey (Rs 33/142, 1½ hours).

Boat

There are public ferry services across Ashtamudi Lake to Guhanandapuram (one hour) and Perumon (two hours), leaving from the jetty. Fares are around Rs 10 return.
